Mr. Sullivan's Pear Tree

Meeting you as you sat on your porch
On the rocking bench your hands had made
Your smile warm your spirit sweet
You sat with your wife
And shared your kindness with me
I later found the work of your hands
In many places throughout your land
You planted trees that grew so tall
Your pear trees housed my hats
For the famous tea party
we had a blast
I loved the vines you tended to
I cherished them and still do
I wish I could have stayed in you space longer
The chapter in my life has turned
But I wanted you to know
The space your hands tended warmed my soul
